ABOUT THE BOOK

The 2nd National Commission on Labour (NCL) observed that there is multiplicity of legislations in India. It recommended consolidation of central labour laws. In 2019, the Ministry of Labour and Employment introduced four Bills on labour codes to consolidate 29 central laws. These laws have been subsumed into four labour codes, namely the Code on Wages, 2019, the Industrial Relations Code, 2020, the Code on Social Security, 2020, and the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020. This book is a comparative analysis between the Industrial Relations Code and the three laws subsumed by it, namely the Trade Unions Act, 1926, the Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act, 1946, and the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.Most of the jurisprudence has remained the same with a few additions to pave way for our country's labour and industrial environment towards changes brought by 21st century. The object of this book is to develop the understanding among the students, academicians and researchers regarding the various facets of industrial relations.
